JANE MULFINGER: Untitled, 1991 [Vitrine au Peep Show], 20’x15’x8’, second-hand men’s shoes, hour-glass white sand, text
Vitrine au Peep Show, X-Star Video, Rue St. Denis, Paris

An active Parisian peep show houses this agit-prop work in one of the stage spaces. Worn men’s shoes symbolically give a human presence to the peep show audience by lining the interior stage space. Each cubicle one-way mirror has semi-transparent text at eye level; “your shoes”, “your jacket”, “your tie”, etc., intended to include the audience in the strip tease.
